Camp Minsi, located on the shores of Stillwater Lake in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, has been serving Scouts for more than 60 years. The premier summer camp encompasses more than 1,200 acres of pristine Pennsylvanian woodlands along the shores of the 314 acre Stillwater Lake. Owned and operated by Minsi Trails Council, Camp Minsi provides unique and exciting programs for Scouts of all ages.

Camp Minsi Voyager Program

Three exciting treks planned for 2010!
Week 1 (June 27 - July 3) | Week 3 (July 11 - July 17) | Week 5 (July 25 - July 31)
Camp Minsi's Voyager canoe trek program is new addition to Camp Minsi's high adventure offering. Introduced in 2009, three full treks are planned for the 2010 summer. The program is designed for older Scouts interested in a unique summer camp experience, including a 60+ mile canoe trek on the Deleware River. Participants will have the opportunity to canoe for five days through beautiful valleys from upstate New York, into the rolling Appalachian mountains of Pennsylvania.

Scouts that sign up for the program will arrive at Camp Minsi on Sunday and go through a routine check-in processes and special orientation. The crew will attend a special campfire on Sunday night, then awake on Monday to drive to the boat launch in New York. From there, the group will canoe down the river for five days into East Stroudsburg. Along the way they will have the opportunity to stop at many scenic and historic sites, and learn new skills about the environment around them. They will cook their own meals, operate as a patrol and live the ideals of the Scouting program.

On Friday afternoon, the crew will return to Camp Minsi to attend the closing campfire where they will be recognized. Scouts that participate in the Voyager program will develop life-long memories and will bring back many great stories and skills to share with the rest of their Troop. Scouts should sign-up as soon as possible, as there are only 10 spots available each week! - Visit Last of the Mohicans Block house ruins
- Camp at Rivers Bend

FRIDAY
- Paddle to Deleware Water Gap (15 Miles)

Camp Minsi Staff Application

Camp Minsi is always looking for qualified enthusiastic people to serve on staff. Staff members fill a variety of roles, but all of us have the same mission, to live the Scout Oath & Law and to serve as role models for the boys who come to our camp. To be a paid staff member, you must be at least 15 years old. A counselor in training program (CIT) is offered to those ages 14 and 15 wishing to gain experiance.

Beaver Day: Saturday, May 8, 2010

Beaver Day (Saturday, May 8, 2010) is a unique opportunity for service, fellowship, recreation, and fun. Bring your unit and explore camp, meet the staff, participate in special programs and give back to the camp through friendly service.

The entire event is 100% free! The camp will provide your unit with a site, tents and cots (for those opting to camp over on Friday night), plus lunch on Saturday will be provided for all units participating in the weekend. All that we ask in return is that your unit give a few hours of service to the camp on Saturday. Additionally, Scouts and leaders will have the opportunity to take advantage of several open program areas on Saturday afternoon along with a chance to explore the camp, meet the staff and participate in many fun activities.

Your unit can come and camp in the same site they be living in during the summer. You can help improve and prepare your site, or participate in one of the many camp-wide improvement projects needed to prepare for the 2010 camping season.

If you don’t want to make a weekend out of it, you can just come for the day on Saturday to participate in the service projects, fellowship events and other festivities.

About Camp Minsi

Camp Minsi is located on the shores of Stillwater Lake atop the beautiful Pocono Mountains in Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania. Donated by Samuel Rubel of New York City to the Boy Scouts in 1949, Camp Minsi encompasses 1200 acres of relatively flat woodlands. The 314-acre Stillwater Lake was used in the early part of this century for ice harvesting; remnants of those facilities can still be seen today. Now Stillwater Lake's most important product is to provide sailing, swimming, fishing and other aquatic activities to the hundreds of Scouts and Scouters who attend weekly throughout the summer season.

Camp Minsi features a centrally located, and recently expanded, Dining Hall. Within a short walk from the Dining Hall are 10 campsite with capacities that range form 30 to 60 campers. Further away are a number of backwoods outpost sites for a more rustic experience. There are over 20 miles of hiking trails throughout the camp that give Scouts an opportunity to experience a variety of flora, fauna and as the intriguing geology of a glacial moraine. The varied wildlife that makes the reservation its home grants both youth and adults the opportunity of experiencing and interacting with nature first hand.

Summer camp is the pinnacle of Scouting’s outdoor program. With ten unique program areas, Scouts have the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of exciting activities at Camp Minsi. 2010 is a year filled with new programs and activities designed to peak the interests of every camper - from newest campers to the seasoned veterans. Camp Minsi’s Trail to Adventure is a special program designed to help newer Scouts advance in the early ranks, while also working towards a few merit badges. Minsi also offers special programs designed for veteran Scouts looking for new and challenging outdoor experiences. Camp Minsi’s merit badge program continues to grow, and this summer's program offers more than 50 merit badges for Scouts to explore.

The camp's waterfront, located on the beautiful 314-acre Lake Stillwater, offers many exciting programs – including swimming, sailing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, sailboarding and snorkeling. ScoutCraft continues to teach outdoor skills while offering unique challenges for Scout of all ages. Over at Handi-Craft, Scouts are able to hone their craft in woodcarving, leather work, basketry, pottery and more. The Quartermaster Crew builds technical skills, including plumbing, painting, and home repairs. Camp Minsi's Ecology-Conservation area continues to offer in-depth environmental programs – including conservation projects, nature studies and the infamous Minsi Muck Hike. At Shooting Sports, Scouts have a chance to shoot rifles, shotguns and bows and arrows. And for the Scoutmasters coming to camp, there are many special programs for them as well.

The Minsi Muck Hike

The Muck Hike is an experience you will never forget! One of Minsi's most proud traditions, the Muck Hike is run every Wednesday afternoon throughout the summer. This special E-CON hike is open to any Scout (or leader) willing to get a little dirty. The hike takes Scouts through the muddy swamps along the border of camp. This ecological adventures gives Scouts the opportunity to explore a distinctive, and often unexplored, environmental landscape. This activity always proves to be fun and enjoyable for both Scouts and leaders alike. The event concludes with a mob of muddy Scout descending upon the waterfront to cleanse in the water of Lake Stillwater (this is then followed by a trip to Central Showers to finish the task). It is recommended that any Scouts planning on participating in this event come prepared with shoes and clothing that they don't mind getting extremely dirty, muddy and wet.

From PA Route 22:
Follow Interstate 22 east or west. Exit onto Route 33 North. Exit onto Route 380 North. Exit onto Interstate 80 West. Follow Interstate 80, exiting onto Route 380 North. Take Exit 3, (old exit 8). At the stop sign at the top of the ramp, turn left. Follow route 940 West for 1.1 miles. Camp entrance is on the right across from police station.

From PA Interstate 80:
Follow Interstate 80 east or west. Exit onto Route 380 North. Take Exit 3, (old exit 8). At the stop sign at the top of the ramp, turn left. Follow route 940 West for 1.1 miles. Camp entrance is on the right across from police station.

From PA Route 476 NE Extension:
Follow the NE Extension of the PA Turnpike to Exit 95 (White Haven). Follow Route 940 East for approximately 20 miles. Camp entrance is on the left across from police station.
